Thanks for your interest in becoming an LHS volunteer!

As a nonprofit organization we rely on our volunteers to help us successfully fundraise and provide animal enrichment.  We’re happy you’re interested in joining our team!

Volunteer opportunities for adults include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Pet partnering
  • Foster care
  • Special event preparation
  • Fundraising
  • Grounds work
  • Humane education
  • Teen volunteer mentors
  • Office mates

Please note, at times we may have a waitlist for volunteer positions. We ask for your patience as it may be 1-2 months before we are able to schedule you for orientation/training. Due to the high volume of volunteer inquiries, please allow us 2 weeks to contact you about your questionnaire, phone calls, or emails.

Our potential volunteers must do the following:

  1. Submit a Volunteer Questionnaire — All volunteers MUST complete a questionnaire. Once received, we will contact you to attend a volunteer orientation and training class.
  2. Attend an Orientation Session — Before you begin volunteering at LHS, we require that you:
Schedule an Orientation Session: We'll send you a confirmation email with possible orientation dates when your application is accepted.
Attend your scheduled Orientation and Training Sessions: This will be an informative session, so be prepared to learn and have your questions answered.
    - Pay a one-time program fee of $15 at your Orientation Session: This fee covers administrative expenses, including a volunteer t-shirt after acceptance into the program. As long as you maintain your active volunteer status, this is a one-time fee.
  3. Commit to Volunteering for a Minimum of 6 Hours a Month — With our flexible hours, you'll be able to tailor your volunteer experience around your schedule.
