Spay’sTheWay is participating in this February’s World Spay Day, which is a month-long event designed to bring about spay/neuter awareness and education, and to get as many pets altered as possible and prevent springtime litters! Have your dog or cat spayed/neutered through Spay’sTheWay in February and receive some terrific promotions:

FREE or low-cost spay/neuter surgery
FREE rabies vaccination
FREE city license
$5 MICROCHIP, optional (limited quantity)

Great big THANK YOU to Lexington Hospital for Cats!

A heartfelt thank you to the Lexington Hospital for Cats for hosting a donation drive that raised nearly $1,500 in monetary donations and well over $2,000 in cat toys, treats and supplies! Lexington Hospital for Cats has been a long-term partner of the Lexington Humane Society (LHS), and we are incredibly thankful for their support! LHS is completely reliant upon community support and private donations to meet our 1.8 million dollar annual budget and therefore every dollar truly makes a difference to us. This donation will play a part in helping us to care for the near 5,000 animals that come through our doors each year!

Adoption Process, Fees and Details

Thank you for allowing LHS to help you Adopt Love. Our adoptions specialists are trained to help you find the perfect four-legged friend. We work by a concept called FindersKeepers whichhelps to create life-long pet matches. Adopting a pet is a life-long commitment and could be a part of your family for up to 10-15 years! This makes it very important to know what kind of pet would best suit your family situation and lifestyle. Utilize our trained Adoption Specialists for information on finding your perfect match.

ADOPTING A PET

Dogs and Puppies: $79 - $199

Cats: $59

Kittens: $79

Bunnies: $19

Other Pets: $5 and up

Pets with higher adoption fees help to provide financial assistance for those animals who need a little more time to find their forever homes.

LHS has hundreds of animals available for adoption every week. These pictures do not cover all of our animals. Please visit our shelter to see the wide variety of wonderful animals waiting for a new home and hopefully you too can Adopt Love.

Up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies and K9 influenza vaccine)
Mild de-worming

**Over $250 worth of services are provided to each animal prior to adoption.

We require all dogs and cats in Fayette County to be licensed at adoption. Adoption fee does not include the $8 Fayette County animal license. (We accept Cash, VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express)

Property Checks

Certain sizes, weights and breeds of animals require more space than others. Therefore certain animals' temperaments do not blend well with children and/or other pets. LHS reserves the right to conduct a property check and/or verify allowance of pets on rental property.

Santa Paws was another successful event for the animals this holiday season! Thank you to everyone who attended!
