During the month of September, everyone is encouraged to think about individual, family, and pet emergency preparedness plans. Disasters can be natural (i.e. tornado, flood) or manmade (i.e. fire, chemical spill) and usually come without much, if any, warning. As a result, you must always be prepared to protect your loved ones—two-legged and four-legged!
Pets rely on us to provide daily care and love in a healthy environment—this responsibility also includes protection and safety in the event of a disaster. To help you prepare for emergency situations, the Department of Emergency Management has helpful information on what you and your pets can do when disaster strikes.
